BIG THANKS from Lacy!

Lacy TKUHello Crowd Rise donors!

I want to share with you my last Marathon Miracle update posted on Facebook today, with an extra word of thanks to you for donating to L’Arche Boston North and for providing me with support that I relied on in order to finish this marathon! I am so grateful for each one of you!

With love,

One. Last. Marathon. POST! For now. 😉

I just want to say a huge “THANK YOU!” to all those who supported me as I trained for the Vermont City Marathon and to those who donated to The Marathon Miracle! 27 people gave $1,284.20 to L’Arche Boston North-over 25% of the goal I initially set of $5,000! I am so humbled by your donations to a remarkable and beautiful community I dearly love.

Some of you may know the race was officially closed after 4 hours and 30 minutes due to the high heat and humidity in Burlington. After four hours of running, the announcement of the race’s closure was first heard by me and my running buddy, Marta at mile 18. I’m getting emotional now as I remember my first reactions of shock and dismay, and how I turned to Marta and asked, “Marta, do you want to finish this?” When she said yes, I knew there was no turning back. And, official finish or no official finish, we did not turn back!

With thanks to those who kept track of us, I finished in 5:13:27, with a pace of 11:57, arriving at the finish line at 1:22pm after beginning a few minutes after 8am. This was short of our initial goal for pace and finish time, and yet our effort went far beyond what I could’ve imagined for that day. Or, as aptly put it: “Some runners defied the warnings and finished the race.” 😉
Thanks be to God for every moment of this marathon journey, and thank you again for all of the love, experienced in prayers, water, balloons, cheers, support, socks, calls, signs, time, texts, money, snacks, stuffed Bing Bongs, miles, and presence.
